Song Bird asked:
He seems to be picking on him specifically..they said that they should all get alone. I have a lionfish, foxface tang, snowflake & banded eel, purple anenome & a haitian pink tip…is he going to settle down or kill something? Any help thanks

They’re a gorgeous specimen aren’t they? I plan on getting one for my 150gal tank as well! My friend told me that a lot of triggers are kind of aggressive, so introducing him after the other fish are in there is probably good. I would say give it time to settle to the tank. If you see that he still shows aggression n, you may need to get him in a different tank.
triggerfish are aggressive and will chase most fish even if they are tank mates all fish are different
it might stop but its not likly
it shouldn’t kill any thing it should only chase them mabey nip a little but thats it
It’s the nature if triggers to be territorial and aggressive to other fish. Some species are worse than others, and you didn’t mention which species you got – I don’t think there are any named with words that Yahoo would bleep out anyway
Is it possible that you have a dark colored trigger (niger or pink-tail) and a dark colored cinnamon clown that it might be mistaking for another of his own kind? Marine fish generally don’t tolerate other fish that look like other members of the same species.
You have a mix of some aggressive species and some that will require a very sizeable tank – I hope you have at least a 150 gallon, preferably larger. The puffer should be in a 125 at the very least, and he’ll probably start to pick on your other fish as well. Given the aggression level for a fish that was just added, you may want to return him. The puffer as well.
ADDITION: I believe you posted a question a while back about having a sea star in your tank – if so, you should know that both the puffer and the trigger will eat it.
what kind of trigger did you get?
many are moderately agressive, a few are pretty peacfull and some are crazy mean!
picasso, niger, pinktail, bluethroat, and crossback are some of the more peaceful ones.
