Can My SaltWater Fish Get Along?

triggerfish
Almostmikko asked:

I have a Blue Tang, Yellow Tang, 2 Clown Fish, a Porcupine fish and i think its called a Niger Triggerfish, so far none of them are fighting or anything i just want to know if they get along.
The tank is probably 35-40 gallons but so far none of them are hurting or biting each other im just curious.
The tangs and the trigger aren’t that big tho. Probably like 3-4inches in length and so far they seem to get along

    In what size tank ?

Return everything except the clownfish. You cannot keep the others in such a small tank.

The only fish you have that can stay in that tank are the clownfish. Please research fish before you buy them. This is not a suitable mix. While juveniles, you won’t have any problems, but the tangs may fight (possibly to the death) and the puffer and trigger have the ability to pretty much kill whoever they so choose.

Well you are lucky. First this is not a good mix of fish. 40 gallons is too small for your blue tang (I’ve raised yellows in 30 and they were fine but only one at a time) clowns are ok but your Porcupine puffer will make a meal out of them eventually. Too small for the niger trigger fish as well.

Puffer is fine in a 30-40 gallon.

You may come to find your puffer will start going after your clowns. Size does matter but they are going to grow.

Really this is not a good mix of fish in such a small tank. I would keep either the clowns and yellow tank, or the yellow tank and the puffer.
